Roundtable
The automotive world is living a profound transformation, which is highlighting new needs, potential and objectives. With the progress of technology and the evolution of means of transport, the focus is increasingly shifting towards the design of integrated and sustainable mobility solutions.
In this context, what could be the future scenarios?
What priorities should society and the main players in the sector respect?
What will be the future of hypercars, individual means of transport and freight transport?
IAAD. questions these issues on a daily basis and, collaborating with relevant brands and design centers, proposes constant design challenges to students.
Moderated by Luca Borgogno, Chief Automotive Officer for MARC – HUAWEI, on Friday 13 September 5 excellent designers will discuss these topics, offering different visions thanks to their different experiences and areas of intervention.
Architect Walter De Silva will intervene remotely.
Free and open activity.

WALTER DE SILVA
An unquestionably talented designer with a childish love for cars, he began his professional career in 1972 at Fiat. The early years, studded with relationships with exceptional figures such as Rodolfo Bonetto and Renzo Piano, allowed him to develop a unique sensitivity for beauty, the essential and planning.
His entry into Alfa Romeo would determine his important rise in the world of car design. Head of the Style Center, he designed, among others, the 156 and 147 that received the “Car of the Year” award. But it was the VW Group that allowed Walter de Silva to give voice to his immense talent. With Audi he began a unique adventure for which he would receive numerous international awards, including the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010 for the Audi A5, “the most beautiful car I have ever designed”. The design direction of the VW Group arrives in 2007, with 12 directly managed brands and a strong design complexity that aims to maintain the uniqueness of each brand without losing its intrinsic identity; it is here that he defines the Design Criteria, combining German technique with Italian creativity.
Compasso D’Oro Career Award, De Silva, thanks to his immense passion and vision, has revolutionized the figure of the Car Designer and the very concept of Centro Stile, demonstrating once again that the right combination of aesthetics and functionality is the true soul of industrial design.
In 2023 he begins a collaboration with IAAD. for the design of the new Master in Design for Mobility Solutions, of which he takes over the direction, defining its strategic directions.
