Furthermore, from 17 to 23 of January 2025, it will be possible to visit the exhibition REVERSE CHANGE.
The Reverse Change Exhibition presents an exclusive selection of outfits chosen from the collection Designed by the 2023/2024 Graduates of IAAD’s Level I Academic Diploma Course in Textile & Fashion Design. Curated by Course Coordinator Giuseppina Di Paola, with the collaboration of faculty members Simone Semeraro and Graziella Origlia, the exhibition offers a unprecedented look at fashion as a tool for transformation and adaptation to the challenges of the future.
The project behind the collection is inspired by a Design concept that blends art and innovation, combining aesthetics with functionality. In a rapidly changing world, fashion is no longer limited to being just an element of decoration and style, but is transformed into a concrete response to increasingly frequent climate emergencies. The final 25 creations (a selection of which are on display in the exhibition) were born out of reflections on how clothing can respond to climate change, examining extreme scenarios such as floods, fires, landslides, hurricanes and other natural disasters, proposing practical solutions through multifunctional, transformable and adaptable garments.
The outfits were designed with the aim of experimenting with new forms that deviate from traditional patterns and, at the same time, are able to integrate functionality and aesthetics.
Reverse Change is not just a fashion exhibition, but a deep reflection on the role of creativity and textile Design in creating sustainable and adaptive solutions for the future. Each outfit is a message, a vision of change that is already underway and needs to be addressed with intelligence, innovation and a new environmental awareness.
In creating the collection, the students chose to use discarded or end-of-life fabrics and also to reuse materials and technical components from an extreme sport, such as paragliding.
The Reverse Change exhibition and presentation conference are events organised as part of the Next Generation EU (NGEU)-funded IRACF Project – International Routes: Arts Creating Future – for the internationalization of higher arts and music education institutions (AFAM) according to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP) MISSION 4 COMPONENT 1 – INVESTMENT 3.4 UNDER INVESTMENT T5 – CUP: E16E24000020006
