Two top class Institutions in the Transportation design field

IAAD. – Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design and ArtCenter College of Design, two excellences in Transportation Design education, have formed a partnership to promote and support initiatives of cultural and academic exchange among students, teachers, and researchers. This collaboration aims to foster the educational development of both institutions.
The initial step of this collaboration are “9649 Design Talks”, shared meetings between the campuses of Turin and Pasadena. 9649 represents the kilometers that separate IAAD. from the ArtCenter, a barrier that, thanks to this partnership, is eliminated, connecting these two Transportation Design communities.
The first two appointments will take place at IAAD, in live connection with the students of the ArtCenter and will be moderated by Dario Olivero, Coordinator of the Transportation Design Department.

Both talks, in English language, will be held at the IAAD. headquarters in Corso Regio Parco, 15 in Turin and will be accessible to a limited number of enthusiasts and students from other universities and institutions. Free admission with mandatory registration.
ArtCenter College of Design
Founded in 1930 and located in Pasadena, California, ArtCenter is a global leader in art and design education. With a current enrollment of approximately 2,423 students, coming from more than 50 countries. ArtCenter offers 11 undergraduate and 10 graduate degrees in a wide array of industrial design, visual and applied arts disciplines, as well as minors for undergraduate students in Business, Creative Writing, Material Science, Research, and Social Innovation. ArtCenter is a private nonprofit fully accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Renowned for both its ties to industry and social impact initiatives, the College is the first design school to receive the United Nations’ Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status.
Davide Amantea
Born and raised in Turin, his dream has always been to be a car designer and he still chasing it.
Dave started in IDEA institute his first experience as Designer during the 2nd year of University, working on Lancia Delta HPE concept with Frank Stephenson, later he jumped into FIAT Advance design team driven by R.Giolito on Fiat 500 and 500 Abarth projects, he worked also for Peter Jensen for Fiat Professional on Fiat Cubo/Fiorino and Fiat Doblo`, Marco Tencone invited him in the Alfa Romeo .
In 2008 Dave working as Senior Designer on Alfa Romeo 4C concept as Exterior and Interior designer, after the car have been presented in Geneva Motor Show 2009, he moved to work in the Maserati team with Giovanni Ribotta and he follow as main exterior designer for the Maserati kubang concept presented in Frankfurt 2010, during that time he worked also on Ghibli and Quattroporte.
Dave in 2010 decided to work for ITALDESIGN GIUGIARO freshly purchased by VW group. Here Raul Pires the director brings him to become Exterior team leader, a design manager that was leading many programs and many team at the same time for different brand of the group. Working with big Mentor like Giorgetto and Walter De Silva helped him to learn a lot of things about cars and car business. Here Dave had the possibility to work on many programs for SEAT,VW,AUDI,BENTELY,LAMBORGHINI and worked in many Show car from 2010 until 2014. Remarkable work have been done as Main designer of the Bentley Bentayga.
At that point Dave moved in UK working for Massimo Frascella in the Creative Design team, here he participated on many project, Discovery Sport MY19, Defender, Range rover Sport and Range Rover, advance program was also the core of his task.
Dave went in Germany in Munich at NIO and worked on ES6 and ET7 program a side of NIO Design strategy. A short but very intense experience that helping him to growth a lot.
Micheal Perschke at that time CEO of Automobili Pininfarina, invited him to join under the lead of Luca Borgogno the CDO the Exterior team as Director of Exterior Design. Today Dave is the Chief Designer Office of one of the most famous brands in the automotive world: Automobili Pininfarina, he continues to fight for design and tries to learn more, the road is long uphill but fun as hell.
Chris Bangle
Chris Bangle was born in Ravenna, Ohio in 1956. After attending the University of Wisconsin and graduating from the Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, California), Bangle began his career at Opel in 1981. He then moved on to Fiat on 1985, where he designed the brazen Coupe Fiat. In 1992 he was named the first American Chief of Design at BMW, where he was responsible for bringing the designs of the BMW, Mini Cooper, and Rolls Royce into the twenty-first century. After resigning from BMW in 2009, he moved to Clavesana (near Turin, Italy), where he founded Chris Bangle Associates (CBA), a design consultancy and management company, together with his wife Catherine. Nowadays CBA successfully operates in the product, industrial and car design business.
