“Social Shell” from “shell”: Protective shell, of calcareous substance and of different shape, size and colour, of the body of Molluscs and Brachiopods.
The project stems from the desire to develop a new proposal for cohabitation, following a new housing model. A model that can somehow respond to the social and climatic emergencies of recent years: a response to what are the social problems, both housing and economic population, the climate emergency and the exploitation of resources in a disproportionate way.
The project takes as case study an abandoned building in Via Belvedere 63, in Casalecchio di Reno, province of Bologna. To bring to light also the problem of abandonment in our country. A problem that should be reviewed as a resource to stop taking away space from nature to build, but going to redevelop abandoned buildings also in view of a reduction in costs and waste of energy resources.
